In recommendation A-17-023, designated as DCA15SR001, the National Transportation Safety Board has formally requested that the Federal Aviation Administration revise specific operational orders. The NTSB advises the FAA to update JO 7110.65W, titled Air Traffic Control; JO 7110.10Y, titled Flight Services; and JO 7210.3Z, titled Facility Operation and Administration. The primary objective of this directive is to ensure that the chapters within these orders addressing pilot weather reports include improved and consistent guidance. This updated guidance specifically targets the coding, handling, solicitation, and dissemination of pilot weather reports to enhance operational clarity and safety standards across federal aviation facilities.
