The National Transportation Safety Board has directed the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure operators of specific Boeing models have clear procedures for monitoring wind conditions during parking and notifying maintenance personnel.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued Recitation A-19-005, identified by NTSB number DCA17FA076. This recitation is addressed to the Federal Aviation Administration. It directs the agency to ensure that operators of Boeing DC-9/MD-80 series and 717 model airplanes have established procedures. These procedures must define who is responsible for monitoring the wind that affects parked airplanes. Additionally, the procedures must specify how to notify maintenance personnel when conditions could meet or exceed the ground gust criteria specified in the Aircraft Maintenance Manual. This action aims to clarify responsibilities regarding environmental factors during aircraft parking and maintenance operations.
