NTSB Recommends FAA Review Flight Call Sign Reporting Procedures

The NTSB recommends the FAA issue a notice emphasizing the reporting of duplicate or phonetically similar flight call signs.

The NTSB recommends that the Federal Aviation Administration issue a general notice directing all air traffic control supervisory personnel to review the procedures in the Facility Operation and Administration Handbook, 7210.3I, regarding the reporting of duplicate, phonetically similar, or hard-to-distinguish flight call signs. The notice should emphasize the importance of and assign a higher priority to the reporting of all known instances.
