NTSB Recommends FAA Training on Emergency Procedures
The NTSB recommends FAA training on handling VFR pilots in weather difficulty below minimum altitudes.
The NTSB recommends that the Federal Aviation Administration advise all radar controllers and supervisors currently working in en route and terminal facilities of the importance of following procedures provided in paragraph 9 10 of handbook 7110.65, air traffic control, when providing assistance in emergencies. The NTSB also recommends illustrating the importance of following procedures by providing the account of the accident described in this letter and providing training on the handling of VFR pilots in weather difficulty below the minimum vectoring altitude or minimum IFR altitude.
