NTSB Recommends FAA Review of Arrival Routes for Flights to Los Angeles
The NTSB recommends modifying air traffic control procedures to ensure flights landing at Los Angeles International Airport from over Santa Catalina VORTAC enter the terminal control area at or near the upper vertical limit.
The NTSB recommends that the Federal Aviation Administration review and modify air traffic control preferential arrival routes at the Los Angeles Air Route Traffic Control Center and other air traffic control facilities, as appropriate, so that air carrier flights landing at Los Angeles International Airport from over Santa Catalina VORTAC shall enter the Los Angeles terminal control area at or near the upper vertical limit.
