NTSB Recommends Foreign Carriers Adhere to New Flight Recorder Standards

The National Transportation Safety Board has issued a formal recommendation directing the Federal Aviation Administration to take specific regulatory action regarding flight recorder standards. The board advises that the agency revise the applicable operating rules under Title fourteen of the Code of Federal Regulations, specifically Part one hundred twenty nine. This revision is intended to ensure that foreign air carriers operating into the United States, as well as foreign operators of aircraft registered in the United States, comply with new federal flight recorder standards. These updated standards became effective on March twenty fifth, nineteen eighty seven, and again on July eleventh, nineteen eighty eight. The recommendation aims to align international operations with these established safety benchmarks.
