NTSB Issues Rec A-94-148 for Aviation Fuel Line Inspection

The National Transportation Safety Board has issued Recommendation A-94-148, urging the Federal Aviation Administration to take immediate regulatory action regarding specific fuel lines used in aviation. The recommendation calls for the issuance of an airworthiness directive that mandates a thorough inspection of all fuel lines constructed from Aeroquip nitrile-rubber 601 hoses. This scope explicitly includes Cessna fuel lines identified by part numbers S1236-3 or S2495-3, which are utilized in aviation gasoline applications. The directive would require these inspections to be completed within thirty days or at the next scheduled aircraft hose inspection, whichever event occurs first. Furthermore, the recommendation stipulates that any of these lines exhibiting signs of wetness or leakage must be replaced. Additionally, any such lines that have been installed for more than two years are also subject to mandatory replacement under this proposed directive.
