Synopsis

B737-400 flight crew reported the landing gear failed to indicate down and locked.

Narrative

While starting our descent into Runway XX in ZZZ; we had an indication from the nose wheel indicator in red. We started our approach for Runway XX; while configuring the aircraft we then drop the gear; the necessary flaps to slow the aircraft. We got the gear horn and a little buffeting; I then started a go around procedure and also called for the QRH for gear extension procedure. While getting vectored around we performed the landing gear extension and still did not have any indication that the landing gear came down. The nose wheel transit light was still on but no other indication. The only thing we felt was drag that the gear could be down. We then [requested priority] to land for Runway XX because at this time we were getting low on fuel and approach to land was needed to be attempted. We finished up the necessary QRH procedure and check list and did the approach to a safe landing even though no indication was showing otherwise. I was able to land safely and taxied off the runway and then got towed to the gate.Landing gear horn going off and aircraft started to buffer. Landing gear fail to indicate down and lock on the approach into ZZZ on Runway XX.Execute a go around and perform QRH procedures for manual gear extension procedures. At this time I have no suggestions on how to avoid a gear disagreement indication.

Second reporter narrative

While attempting an approach to landing to Runway XX into ZZZ; landing gear failed to indicate down and locked. Only indication was red gear in transit for nose gear. Immediately a go-around was performed. After that QRH for Manual Gear Extension was performed. Landing gear still failed to indicate down and locked. Only indication flight crew had was once again the red gear in transit for nose gear and the rush of air flowing around landing gear. Note during performance of QRH an attempt to look at the indication of nose gear down was attempted but failed due to dirty viewing window for nose gear. At that time priority was received and ground crews were deployed. Tower asked if a flight crew wanted to perform low approach to check to see if landed gear was down. Due to fuel levels and IFR conditions at the time; flight crew elected to only perform a landing. Captain landed aircraft smoothly without incident. Aircraft existed runway under its own power and control. Aircraft taxied to Spot X on Company Ramp entrance to Company Ramp with services following. At Spot XX aircraft was parked and Ramp Services connected a tow truck and aircraft was towed into Gate XY and parked.Landed with gear failing to indicate Down and Locked; even after performing Go-Around and QRH Manual Gear Extension Procedure.Performed a Go-Around and QRH Manual Extension procedure and Landing Gear still did not indicate Down and Locked. Requested priority and landed aircraft due to fuel level and without incident. No suggestions at this time.

Frequently asked questions

How do I search flights by aircraft type on FlightFinder?

Pick an aircraft model — Boeing 737, Airbus A320, A380, Boeing 787 Dreamliner and more — enter your origin airport, and FlightFinder shows every route that plane flies from there with live fares.

Which aircraft types can I filter by?

We support Boeing 737/747/757/767/777/787, the full Airbus A220/A319/A320/A321/A330/A340/A350/A380 family, Embraer E170/E175/E190/E195, Bombardier CRJ and Dash 8, and the ATR 42/72 turboprops.

Is FlightFinder free to use?

Search and schedules are free. Pro ($4.99/month, $39/year, or $99 one-time lifetime) unlocks the enriched flight card — on-time stats, CO₂ per passenger, amenities, live gate & weather — plus My Trips with push alerts.

Where does the route data come from?

Live schedules come from Amadeus, AeroDataBox and Travelpayouts. Observed routes (which aircraft actually flew a given city pair) are crowdsourced from adsb.lol ADS-B data under the Open Database License.
