UNAUTHORIZED PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE BY ACR WDB WHILE ON A RADAR VECTORING DEP PROC. HDG TRACK RTE DEV.
DEPARTED LAX 24L. DURING CLB; AFTER SWITCHED TO CENTER; GIVEN FOLLOWING CLRNC: 'TURN R HDG 285 DEG; INTERCEPT VENTURA 272 DEG RADIAL; THEN THE VENTURA 1 DEP'. (SEE ACCOMPANYING SID.) RADIAL DIALED IN BOTH VOR RECEIVERS FOR INTERCEPT OFF VENTURA (VTU). AS COURSE BAR CAME ALIVE INDICATING APCH TO RADIAL; AND AUTOPLT BEGAN CAPTURE; SAN MARCUS (RZS) 233 DEG RADIAL AND FREQ FOR RZS WERE TUNED IN #2 VOR. CONCURRENT TO ALL THIS; CENTER CALLED AND INSTRUCTED US TO TURN L TO 200 DEG AS WE WERE N OF THE RZS 233 DEG RADIAL. AS THE #2 VOR RECEIVER LOCKED ON RZS; IT WAS APPARENT WE HAD FLOWN THROUGH THE 233 DEG RADIAL AND WERE INDEED ON THE 246 DEG RADIAL; 35 DME. THE REASON WE FLEW THROUGH THE RZS 233 DEG RADIAL WAS THAT THE VECTOR WE RECEIVED OF 285 DEG TO INTERCEPT THE VTU 272 DEG RADIAL ACTUALLY INTERCEPTED THE 272 DEG RADIAL AFTER XING THE RZS 233 DEG RADIAL. BAD VECTOR. SHOULD HAVE BEEN 295 DEG HDG. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 189534: WE THEN TURNED TO 285 DEG HDG AND TUNED IN 272 DEG RADIAL VTU. DURING THIS TIME WE WERE DISCUSSING AN ENG ANOMALY ON TKOF THAT EVENTUALLY WE DECIDED WAS NOT SERIOUS BUT WE WERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT EPR SETTING TO USE AND I WAS IN THE BOOKS TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT. THE NEXT THING I HEARD WAS THE CTLR ASKING US IF WE WERE GOING TO INTERCEPT.
