Synopsis

Captain reported receiving a terrain warning; GPWS; while on short final to DSV airport. After assessing the situation and no apparent obstacles a normal landing was completed.

Narrative

We were dispatched to HTF and a first for both of us. The weather was VFR for the most part; but because of our unfamiliarity and the terrain in the area we opted to fly the RNAV Runway 18 with LNAV mins. Initially we only had the weather for Dansville; (DSV) but were able to obtain HTF weather. The approach was uneventful initially as we flew a transition coupled with autopilot. All step down altitudes were honored ; but while on short final while transitioning to visual we received Terrain alerts and then a 'pull-up '. We immediately arrested our descent and while continually assessing our daytime VMC conditions concluded we were without a doubt clear of all obstacles and stable to continue a safe landing. That being said I believe this airport should have an in depth assessment for the safety or at a minimum notes to warn other crews of this potential hazard. Suggestions - Company conduct an analysis of this approach and profile to warn other crew members of the potential for GPWS alerts.
