Synopsis

BIRD STRIKE ON ACFT DURING TKOF ROLL CAUSED FLC TO ABORT THE TKOF AND RETURN TO RAMP.

Narrative

DURING TKOF I HAD TO ABORT DUE TO A BIRD STRIKE ON THE L SIDE OF THE ACFT. AFTER EXITING THE RWY; THE TORQUE GAUGE SPIKED; SO AS WE TAXIED BACK TO PARKING; I SHUT DOWN THE AFFECTED ENG (#1). AFTER PARKING AND SHUTTING DOWN THE OTHER ENG; I WROTE UP THE BIRD STRIKE IN THE MAINT LOG AND PROCEEDED TO CALL THE TWR ON THE PHONE AS THEY REQUESTED ME TO. AFTER MAKING MY CALL AND WRITING MY COMPANY IRREGULARITY RPT; I WAS APCHED BY 2 MEN FROM THE FAA AS THEY WANTED TO KNOW WHY I ABORTED. AFTER TELLING MY STORY; THEY ASKED ME IF I WROTE UP THE DISCREPANCY IN THE LOGBOOK. I REPLIED YES THAT I WROTE UP THE BIRD STRIKE IN THE LOGBOOK. THEY ALSO ASKED ME IF I WROTE UP THE TORQUE GAUGE AND THAT I ABORTED THE TKOF IN THE MAINT LOG. I SAID NO NOT YET I FELT I WOULD CALL THE TWR FIRST BEFORE I WOULD FINISH THE DISCREPANCIES IN THE LOGBOOK. THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN UP ALL OF THE DISCREPANCIES BEFORE LEAVING THE ACFT. I SAID THAT I WAS REALLY UPSET ABOUT THE TWR WANTING ME TO CALL THEM. THEY SAID THEY UNDERSTOOD. SO I PROCEEDED BACK TO THE ACFT AND FINISHED WRITING UP THE REST OF THE DISCREPANCIES. NOTHING ELSE WAS SAID AND AFTER MAINT WAS FINISHED I FERRIED THE ACFT BACK TO THE MAINT BASE.
