Air carrier Captain reported receiving incomplete DG weight documents during preflight. After an extensive delay Dispatch decided to remove the DG cargo.
The planned DG for Aircraft X showed 10 items many which the weight indicated an inadequate; misleading; or incomplete amount information. The lack of numeric digit(s) in front (and after of the decimal point) could be misleading and be a cause of misinterpreted information. After an undesired delay to resolve this weight discrepancy; ZZZ OPS decided to remove the items. Interestingly; the new Final DG Summary had the ability to provide a more detailed weight information that included numeric digits both in front and after the decimal point. This seems to be a recurrent issue. A few months ago; I reported a similar situation where DG weights were Inadequate/misleading/incomplete displayed weight information of Dangerous Goods in the Pilot Notification form. The lack of numeric information should NOT be an acceptable display; as it can create an ambivalence and incorrect assumptions of what is been carried and transported. Not to mention flawed information to airport and ARFF personnel in the event of an emergency.
