2023-07 · NASA ASRS report 2014274
Air carrier pilot flying reported being cut off by another aircraft and stated Ground was not aware of the situation.
At Spot 1 in the C10 alley with the parking brake set; we received clearance from Ground to 'taxi Bravo to Runway 25R behind Aircraft Y' exiting the runway. We acquired the traffic and taxied out behind them via C10 to Bravo. On Bravo and in the vicinity of C9; we observed another airliner exit the C7 alley and turn east onto Bravo but never heard a call from Ground for us to either give way to or follow Aircraft Y. Considering their distance in front of us; I wasn't concerned about who had the right of way but a courtesy call would have been appropriate. About a minute later; Aircraft Z began exiting the C8 alley towards Bravo and showed no signs of stopping. In order to prevent a collision; I applied the brakes; came to a stop and queried Ground with; Ground; Aircraft X… what's up? Aircraft Z just cut us off.' Ground replied acknowledging their error. I don't believe Ground realized there had just been a near miss. LAX Tower should address the casual factors associated with this incident. Suggestions are best addressed by LAX Tower since I don't know the environment in the Tower at the time of the incident."
