AFTER AN ABORTED TKOF; CAPT DEPARTED WITHOUT THE APPROPRIATE ACFT RELEASE FOR SVC.
THROTTLES WERE ADVANCED TO TKOF POS FOR TKOF. ALL ENGS RESPONDED NORMALLY. EPR ON ALL ENGS REACHED TKOF VALUES. AT APPROX 30-40 KTS #1 ENG ROLLED RAPIDLY BACK TO IDLE CAUSING ACFT TO VEER TO L. RWY WAS DAMP AND RUBBER- COVERED; EXACERBATING THE PROBLEM. TKOF WAS IMMEDIATELY ABORTED. NO RWY EXCURSION OCCURRED. WIND WAS LESS THAN 10 KTS AT APPROX 270 DEGS; RWY WAS 01. ALL ENG INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL AT IDLE. I ELECTED TO PERFORM STATIC ENG RUNUP; LEAVING PAX ON BOARD WITHOUT MAINT PERSONNEL ON BOARD. SAME WAS PERFORMED TO TKOF PWR TWICE WITH NO ABNORMAL INDICATIONS OF ANY KIND. I THEN ELECTED TO TKOF WITHOUT MAINT INSPECTION. TKOF WAS NORMAL IN EVERY RESPECT. FLT CONTINUED TO DEST WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. SINCE MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ACFT IS LIMITED AND NEVER HAVING EXPERIENCED A COMPRESSOR STALL IN THIS TYPE. I ASSUMED ROLL BACK WAS CAUSED BY COMPRESSOR STALL; SINCE SUBSEQUENT ENG RUNUPS WERE NORMAL. WITH HINDSIGHT AND APPLICABLE REGS IN FRONT OF ME; I FIND I SHOULD NOT HAVE RELIED UPON MY EXPERIENCE; BUT SHOULD HAVE REMOVED PAX; MADE LOGBOOK ENTRY; AND HAD MAINT PERSONNEL ON BOARD DURING RUNUP; ALLOWING THEM TO BE FINAL AUTHORITY ON ENG PERFORMANCE.
