Synopsis

MLG ADVISED OF TFC ON WHICH CREW HAS VISUAL. HAS TCASII RA ON OTHER TFC. EVASIVE ACTION.

Narrative

WE CHKED ON WITH NY CTR (35.45) LEVELING AT 16000. WHILE TURNING OVER DQO TO INTERCEPT THE 306 DEG RADIAL WE WERE ADVISED OF TFC AT 17000 AND TO EXPECT A CLB WHEN CLR. VISIBILITY WAS GOOD AND THE FO SAW THE LGT AT 17000 HOWEVER THE TCASII DISPLAY ALSO SHOWED ANOTHER ACFT AT 16500. BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE 16500 TFC ATC ISSUED A TURN TO 340 DEG TO INCREASE THE SEPARATION ON THE SWBOUND LGT. WHILE IN THE TURN TCASII ISSUED AN ALERT ON THE 16500 TFC (LTT); AND PRIOR TO ATC NOTIFICATION A 'DSND' WARNING WAS ISSUED. THE CAPT; WHO WAS FLYING; FOLLOWED THE WARNING AND STARTED A DSCNT. THE FO NOTIFIED 'CTR' OF THE TCASII WARNING AND OF THE DSCNT. AT THAT TIME WE ASKED CTR IF HE WAS ALSO SHOWING THE 16500 TFC. WHILE WAITING FOR A REPLY THE WARNING CHANGED TO 'MONITOR VERT SPD;' AND WE CLRED THE CONFLICT AT 15500. THE LTT PASSED AT 5 O'CLOCK AND 1 TO 1 1/2 MI. ATC SAID HE ADVISED US OF BOTH ACFT HOWEVER; THE CAPT; FO AND ACM ONLY RECALL THE SPECIFIC ADVISORY ON THE LGT AT 17000. ONCE CLR OF THE LTT WE WERE ISSUED A CLB TO 16000 AND ON COURSE.
