Air carrier flight crew reported receiving immediate takeoff clearance and then ATC canceled the takeoff clearance due to traffic landing on a converging runway resulting in a rejected takeoff.
During Taxi ATC instructed us to line and wait RWY 26L at MIA. The Captain and I completed all items on the Before Take Off Checklist and complied with ATC instruction. Miami Tower issued a take off clearance and the Captain positively transferred flight controls to me as I was pilot flying. I proceeded to stabilize engines as well as engaged TOGA and as we slowly began the take off roll ATC cancelled our take off clearance due to converging landing traffic on RWY 30. The Captain called for the aircraft and I positively transferred the controls to him as he performed the low speed (less then 30 knots) rejected takeoff. We vacated the runway and I reviewed the brake cooling chart and overall we determined there was no special procedure needed. We taxied back to RWY 26L; completed a Before Takeoff Checklist again and departed without any further incident.I believe our situational awareness and our training assisted us in successfully performing the rejected take-off procedure for the event mentioned above.I believe continuing to have good situational awareness; engaging in sterile flight deck rules; and Crew Resource Management assisted us in having a positive outcome for the event mentioned above.
ATC cleared us for an immediate takeoff. FO immediately began TO procedures. Stabilized the power at 40% and I think he hit TOGA. About then ATC cancelled our takeoff clearance. Maybe 10 seconds had elapsed between the initial clearance the the cancel clearance radio calls. I assumed control of the aircraft and initiated the reject. Very low speed. I had not even called power set yet. We cleared the runway. Discussed the reject. No concerns about brake energy. I barely had to even apply the brakes. Reran the Before TO check in its entirety; made a PA; and departed. ATC said we did not begin our TO soon enough and the delay created a conflict with traffic on the parallel runway. However; we did begin our TO immediately after we got clearance. The tower controller does not seem to understand that it takes a few seconds for our engines to spool. Regardless; in my opinion; the window that the controller thought they had was not nearly large enough and we never should have been given a TO clearance in the first place.Perhaps Tower Controllers need to understand that we can not instantly accelerate once we get a clearance and; there was really no reason to have issues the initial clearance with spacing so tight. We were the only aircraft at the time waiting to depart on 26L.
