M20F pilot reported another aircraft taking evasive action to avoid a collision with them; they landed safely at the airport.
Was flying back from ZZZ1; was about 12 miles enroute 3000 auto pilot on with required anti-collision lights active. I was scanning out side looking for traffic then inside to see if there was anyone on ADS-B. None was shown. At this point I contacted ZZZ with my intentions to land. After receiving instructions and continuing my scan; out the corner of my eye I spot something yellow. I wiped my head around to see a Yellow airplane assuming a cub at my 2 O'clock position taking evasive action. (Hard Left turn and descend) Multiple factors contributed to this near miss. I was in a low wing air craft in the left seat while he was approaching from below and to my right so he could have been blocked by my aircraft. It was during the morning heading east so the sun could have been obstructing the other pilots view. The cub most likely did not have ADS-B out and or any ADS-B in capability like a sentry or stratus. My decision to fly at a altitude of 3000 instead of 3500 heading east although a short hop in a Mooney. The likely hood of a mid air was slim in this case as I believe/my opinion I was far enough ahead and fast enough; it was still to close for comfort and was definitely a loss of safe separation. I hope to do a better job scanning in the future; and rely less on ADS-B as it has its limits.
