B737-800 flight crew reported on final approach receiving master caution warning for low hydraulic pressure resulting with the flight crew landing safely and being towed to the gate.
On approach to ZZZ (ILS XXL); at about 500' AGL; we got a Master Caution light and a 'Low Pressure' light for the #1 Engine hydraulic pump. Since we were so close to the runway; we decided to continue to a landing. During rollout; we then got a light for #2 Electric hydraulic pump (both on system A). Landing rollout was normal; and we exited the runway at the highspeed taxiway 1. Steering and braking were a bit sluggish; but otherwise operable. We held short of runway XXR for departing traffic. After we were cleared to cross runway XXR; I was unable to turn the tiller; so I stopped the aircraft short of the runway; and set the parking brake. We informed ATC of our inability to move. Upon checking the SYS page; we noticed that hydraulic system A quantity indicated Zero. We then informed ZZZ Company X ops that we would require a tow to the gate. While waiting for the tug and maintenance to arrive at the aircraft; a city vehicle approached us an noticed smoke coming from the #2 MLG (suspected to be hydraulic fluid leaking onto hot brakes). We decided to start the APU and shut down the engines. ARFF was dispatched to the aircraft; but no fire was detected. After about 25-30 minutes maintenance and a tug arrived. I handed maintenance the gear pin box through the window; gear pins were installed; then we were towed to the gate. Deplaning of passengers was normal.Cause: Mechanical failure - All parties involved performed required tasks very well. The only thing that would have made our jobs easier would be for a more detailed QRH procedure for if a loss of hydraulic system occurs on the ground; since the QRH procedure mostly deals with a loss of a system in the air.
