Synopsis

A321 pilot and deadheading Flight Attendant reported aircraft loss of oil pressure and diversion to nearby airport.

Narrative

Departed ZZZ1 normally and deviated around a lot of weather on the SID. Through 10000 feet FO looked at system pages on lower ECAM and all looked normal. Leveled off at cruise and advised FAs (Flight Attendants) on expected ride due to weather conditions. This all happened as we were passing abeam ZZZ2 as we were cleared direct ZZZ3. ECAM started flashing Advisory and noticed oil qty was now around 5 QTS. No other adverse indications. Oil qty started further reducing so I called FA to tell them if they had anything out to clean it up and I'd call them back. Texted Dispatch to tell them we had low oil qty and looking at ZZZ. Advised ATC we wanted to divert and started down. Went through non routine landing checklist and overweight landing checklist. Advised FA what was happening. Made PA. Set up for ZZZ landing. On approach got ENG 1 low oil press amber ECAM. [Requested priority handling]. Landed XXR ZZZ. 200 FPM or less touchdown. On rollout got RED ENG 1 LOW OIL PRESS. shutdown engine after clearing runway. Taxied to gate. Made write ups.

Second reporter narrative

I was a deadheading crew member. I was informed that the oil gauge was at zero. A/C lost an engine and the second engine was minutes away from being inop. Had to divert to ZZZ before second engine was lost. I was never contacted by the airline. After landing back at base 10 hours later; I had to reach out to inflight regarding the situation. Didn't receive a debrief or welfare check. Suggestions: Not sure how Maintenance missed such a major issue with the aircraft.
