AN MLG ACR TAXIED PAST A HOLD LINE THAT IS IN AN UNUSUAL PLACE. IT WAS NIGHT; AND THE HOLD LINE IS NOT ILLUMINATED.
TAXIING OUT FOR DEP AT MKE; GND CTL GAVE US 'TAXI TO RWY 19R VIA GOLF.' APCHING THE N END OF 'GOLF' TAXIWAY PAST 'GG'; TWR SAID: 'HOLD ON TAXIWAY FACING N;' WE HAD ALREADY STOPPED TAXIING AND ANSWERED WE WERE ALREADY STOPPED FACING N. TWR RESPONDED WITH 'STOP.' THEN TWR INDICATED WE TAXIED PAST THE HOLD LINE FOR RWY 19R. WE COULD SEE ANOTHER HOLD LINE ON TAXIWAY 'F' OFF TO OUR R ON THE PERPENDICULAR TAXIWAY ONTO RWY 19R. AT THIS POINT; A LIGHT PLANE WHICH WE HAD SEEN COMING IN ON FINAL FLEW ALMOST OVER US TO LAND ON RWY 25R; WE THOUGHT HE MIGHT BE LNDG ON 19L WHEN WE SAW HIM EARLIER. WE DISCUSSED 'BACK AND FORTH' WITH TWR THAT WE DID NOT SEE ANY HOLD LINE ON TAXIWAY 'G' FOR RWY 19R. THEY INSISTED IT IS THERE AND SUBSEQUENTLY CLRED US FOR TKOF. I BELIEVE THIS RWY/TAXIWAY ALIGNMENT AT MKE FOR ACFT TAXIING OUT ON 'GOLF' FOR A RWY 19R DEP; IS NOT OBVIOUS TO STOP WAY BACK ON 'G' TAXIWAY WITHOUT CLARIFYING INSTRUCTIONS FROM GND CTL; SINCE MOST HOLD LINES FOR RWYS ARE ON THE PERPENDICULAR TAXIWAYS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 222602. WE SAW NO HOLD LINE AS WE APCHED THE POINT WHERE WE STOPPED. WE DID SEE WHAT APPEARED TO BE THE NORMAL HOLD SHORT LINE ON F IN ITS NORMAL POS TO OUR R NEXT TO THE END OF THE RWY IF WE UNKNOWINGLY PASSED A HOLD SHORT LINE IN AN UNUSUAL PLACE FOR A RWY HOLD SHORT LINE; I THINK THE CTLRS SHOULD HAVE POINTED IT OUT. AS YOU APCH THE FINAL R TURN ON F (THE PERPENDICULAR TO 19R) YOU SEE A NORMAL HOLD SHORT LINE ACROSS F PARALLEL TO THE RWY 19R. WE WERE NOT TOLD OF AN ACFT ON APCH TO 25R. WE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT 25R WAS IN USE.
