Synopsis

Air carrier flight crew reported being notified to hold for a priority package with dangerous goods after brake release. The dangerous goods summary was sent after pushback.

Narrative

Push crew advised ready to push. Clearance was obtained and brakes released. Push crew then advised that a priority package was enroute and we needed to hold for it. Captain was not advised to set the parking brake but informed crew of the necessity and brakes were set. 2 packages were loaded and ramp advised ready to continue the push. After push had begun; we received a hazardous goods notification. We were not to expect hazardous goods and push crew did not advise that hazardous goods had been loaded. Dangerous Goods report was sent after 2nd brake release.

Second reporter narrative

Prior to push; Ground called ready for brake release. After brakes were released; they said that they needed to add a package and could not push until it was here; as directed by Ops. We were already captured; we set the parking brake and waited. Initially Ground did not want the parking brake set; but we communicated that it was set. They loaded the 'package'; and we reran the before push checklist. We were re-cleared to push; during the push is when we got a DG (Dangerous Goods) final summary. We then sent the Dangerous Goods report but we were already pushed. At no time were we expecting any DGs nor was it communicated that that was the 'package' we were expecting.
