2 SMAS TOUCHED WINGTIPS WHILE TRYING TO PASS WHILE TAXIING.
CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 33 BY ADDISON GND CTL. I OBSERVED ANOTHER SMA ENTERING TAXIWAY A FROM A RWY EXIT RAMP AND BEGINNING TO APCH MY ACFT HEAD-ON. KNOWING THAT PASSAGE OF ACFT ALONG THIS TAXIWAY IS ROUTINE AT ADDISON; I GUIDED MY ACFT AS FAR TO THE R SIDE OF THE TAXIWAY AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT GOING OFF THE EDGE OF THE PAVEMENT. AS OUR ACFT APCHED; I VISUALLY DOUBLECHKED THAT I HAD NO MORE ROOM ON THE R SIDE OF THE TAXIWAY TO UTILIZE IN PROVIDING SPACING. IN PREPARATION FOR THE ACTUAL PASSING; I FURTHER SLOWED MY ACFT. AS THE 2 ACFT MOVED PAST ONE ANOTHER (BOTH WERE IN MOTION); THE L WINGTIPS COLLIDED. UPON CONTACT WITH GND CTL (CONFIRMATION OF THE COLLISION); I RECEIVED CLRNC TO TAXI BACK TO FBO. UPON ARR BACK AT MY POINT OF ORIGIN; I CONTACTED THE TWR AS PREVIOUSLY INSTRUCTED BY GND CTL. RECOMMENDATION: GND CTL SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GRANT TAXI CLRNCS TO SIMILAR ACFT (2 HIGH WINGS OR 2 LOW WINGS) WHICH INTEND TO PASS GOING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. THIS PRACTICE IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO OPS AND INCREASES THE RISK OF COLLISIONS. I DON'T BLAME GND CTL; BUT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE UNIFORMLY SAFE TAXI OPS BY ALL PLTS. OBVIOUSLY; I WASN'T ABLE TO 'TRUST THE OTHER GUY.' EVEN IF I HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED MY ACFT; IT WOULDN'T HAVE PREVENTED THIS ACCIDENT (ALTHOUGH IT WOULD HAVE EXONERATED ME OF ALL RESPONSIBILITY).
