2025-05 · NASA ASRS report 2238869
TMB 900 pilot reported cabin pressurization malfunctioned during cruise. The pilot stabilized the situation and landed safely at destination.
Aircraft departed on an IFR flight plan from ZZZ to ZZZ1 at approximately XA:05 local time. One pilot; no passengers aboard. Leveled off at cruise altitude of 28;000 ft at approximately XA:22 and all systems on the aircraft were operating normally. About 10 minutes into the cruise portion of the flight; near the ZZZ VOR pilot noticed that cabin pressure seemed to be rising; and within seconds; CAS Warnings 'CABIN ALTITUDE' and 'USE OXYGEN MASK' appeared. After assessing the situation for a moment; pilot removed headsets; put on the oxygen mask and started an immediate decent to 10;000 ft prior to any communication with ATC. After several minutes and with the decent going smoothly; pilot was able to reestablish his headset; so he could hear ATC; but was unable to communicate through his oxygen mask. At that point; ATC established a procedure of communication to affirm commands through 'IDENT'. Once the aircraft reached 10;000 feet; pilot was able to remove mask and continue normal communications with ATC. Flight continued normally with all systems functioning properly except the pressurization; and landed at ZZZ2 at approximately XC:15 local time.At approximately XE:00am local time; pilot had a debrief with his instructor on the event; and reviewed emergency procedures; including the proper operation of the oxygen mask mic (depressing the Mic button on the panel). Pilot has also contacted his maintenance center and is awaiting scheduling of service early next week.
