Synopsis

Aircraft lead technician reported finding a cracked elevator pulley support while accomplishing a service bulletin on a Piaggio Avanti P-180 aircraft.

Narrative

I am working at a FAA repair station in ZZZZ and as per EASA requirements we have to comply with SB (Service Bulletin) XX-XXXX [EASA AD (Airworthiness Directive) XXXX-XXXX]. During accomplishment of those task we have numerous findings with a high failure rate. But one finding creates goosebumps. You can see crack on elevator pulley support with bare eyes going through about 85% of length from angle. If this cracks chances are very high to have an elevator cable jumping off the pulley. I don't have to describe further how an aircraft with loss of control will handle during a landing sequence....Please take care of rectifying measures to assure safety of Piaggio Avanti fleet.Aircraft where this finding was observed is not on FAA register but I am thinking about all the other under CFR.95 private operations which will ignore mandatory service bulletins until those become an airworthiness directive. This particular aircraft has not yet reached D-check from hours flown and is hangarized all time; not used for special flight ops or anything which could have made things worse.inspection is part of SBXX-XXXX and requires horizontal stabilizer to be removed (or special flexible probe to be used).
