Synopsis

Air carrier ground personnel reported a box collapsed while attempting to remove a part from the bin. The box had leaked an unknown liquid and was improperly labeled.

Narrative

As I was pulling the part from its bin; the box fell apart almost immediately and the item fell on the floor; upon further inspection it looks as though the part had been leaking for some time leading to extensive corrosion on the bottom of the box; apart from this the box used to package the part had zero 'HEAVY' labels which are required for items weighing more than 50 pounds which also leads me to believe that even without the extensive corrosion the box would not have held up for long; meaning that if it didn't happen to me it would have happened to someone else down the line
