Synopsis

A C172 pilot reported they rejected takeoff due to high oil pressure indication.

Narrative

Aircraft just went through an engine overhaul. This was phase 2 of the break in flight. Aircraft was ran on the ground for 3 hours at maintenance facility after overhaul 20 miles from aircrafts base airport of ZZZ at ZZZ1. Aircraft was flown from maintenance facility to home base. First hour of advised break in was completed during this flight. I arrived to the base airport (ZZZ) to perform the second phase of the break in period. This mission was to fly a 1 hour tach flight at 2400 RPM 4000 feet MSL above ZZZ to monitor oil consumption. I completed a through preflight in accordance with the aircrafts POH. I Added 1.25 quarts of recommended mineral oil to go from the minimum of 6 quarts to 7.25 quarts. After a normal start I taxied the aircraft to the runup area for runway XX on the north side of the runway. Performed a normal run up in accordance with POH recommendations and noted normal engine function and indications. Upon being cleared for takeoff and applying full power in accordance with the recommended break in procedure; the oil pressure increased to red line. Therefore I decided to abort the takeoff during the takeoff roll and return to the run up area to perform a static (full power) run up to determine if the indication could be duplicated. Once again the Oil pressure spiked to red line in response to throttle input. Deemed the aircraft not flyable and returned to base where I documented the discrepancies and communicated it to our maintenance team.
