Air carrier Captain reported a rejected takeoff due to the loss of nose-wheel steering.

Narrative

We received a lineup and wait clearance from ZZZ tower on RWY XX R. We lined up normally; just a slightly off centerline a few degrees. As I brought the thrust levers to 40% N1 on the start of the takeoff roll; the aircraft started moving straight forward; slightly away from centerline. As I put in left rudder; the aircraft did not respond and continued at the same trajectory. At this point I put in full rudder deflection; still no response. At this point I made the decision to reject the takeoff. I brought the thrust levers to idle and used the tiller to steer the aircraft; which was still functioning normally we taxied back to the gate and I noticed the same issue with the rudder pedals as we taxied in.
