Synopsis

CE-680 Captain reported a traffic conflict while taxiing off the runway after landing when an aircraft on final approach was issued a go around by ATC when the Captains aircraft missed the assigned taxiway exit.

Narrative

After receiving clearance to land on XXR at ZZZ at night; we were told to plan on exiting at Taxiway 1 without delay. Taxiway 1 is near the end of the runway. 0Upon landing Tower said expedite to Taxiway 1. About halfway down the runway we heard Tower instruct the aircraft behind us to go around. I was expediting as quickly and safely as possible to Taxiway 1. As I approached Taxiway 1 I realized I was looking at the next exit just past 1 which is 2. I would have had to slam on brakes at this point to make 1 so we rolled to Taxiway 2 and exited. Taxiway 2 leads right into 1. The aircraft behind us had already gone around before we reached Taxiway 1. I don't think the Tower knew we exited at Taxiway 2 because he did not say anything. They just gave us taxi instructions to the ramp. Suggestions: Since it was night; I could have told the Tower we could exit a lot sooner and take the longer taxi. Night time conditions were the biggest factor. Expediting and looking for the exit at night made it more challenging than it would be in the daytime.
