B767 Captain reported a thrust loss at cruise when attempting to balance fuel with an improper configuration. Captain reconfigured fuel pumps; had First Officer balance the fuel and continued on to destination.
Narrative
During cruise at 370; went to balance the fuel and mistakenly turned the low side pumps off without opening the crossfeed. Low fuel press EICAS. Left engine began to roll back. Reselected the off pumps on. Engine recovered. No loss of altitude; minimal loss of airspeed. FO (First Officer) corrected fuel balancing procedure and flight continued normally.
