PLT OF SMA PVT ACFT LANDED AT A PVT UNATTENDED ARPT AND WAS TOLD BE A 'FRIEND' THE ARPT WAS CLOSED DURING WK DAYS.
A PLEASURE FLT WITH NO PREPLANNED DEST. I HAD IN MY POSSESSION A CURRENT LOS ANGELES SECTIONAL AND A CURRENT WESTERN STATES 'FLT GUIDE.' I DECIDED TO LAND AT AGUA DULCE AIRPARK; L70; FOR A SHORT REST STOP. USED CTAF; CALLED UNICOM -- NO ANSWER. COULD HEAR NO OTHER ACFT IN PATTERN. RADIO WAS WORKING; I COULD HEAR ACFT IN SZP PATTERN. RWY WAS CLR. AFTER A SHORT STOP; RETURNED UNEVENTFULLY TO HOME ARPT. IN FOLLOWING DAYS; DISCUSSED OUR FLT WITH SEVERAL FELLOW PLTS AND ONLY ONE SAID THAT SHE THOUGHT THAT L70 WAS NOW CLOSED ON WKDAYS. I HAD FOUND NO SIGN OF DAYTIME CLOSURE IN THE FLT GUIDE OR THE LA SECTIONAL. I CHKED THE FAP FACILITIES DIRECTORY AND FOUND NO REF TO L70 AT ALL. THE ARPT GUIDE AGREES WITH FLT GUIDE. I FEEL ESPECIALLY BAD ABOUT BEING PERHAPS ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFFIN OF AN ARPT CLOSURE. THE FACILITY COULD PERHAPS USE PORTABLE X'S TO MARK THE RWY DURING THE WK OR A VERY LOW PWR ATIS TYPE XMISSION TO WORN OFF PLTS. I BELIEVE TERRAIN WOULD MASK A GND XMITTER FROM FACILITIES SHARING THAT CTAF. I COULD PROBABLY READ MORE CLOSELY THE FAA NEWSLETTER 'SOCAL PLT' ASSUMING THAT THIS INFO WAS IN IT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO. THE RPTRS WERE ADVISED OF THE ARPT STATUS IN REGARD TO THEIR PVT PLEASURE FLT INTO A PVT UNATTENDED ARPT. RPTRS WERE CONCERNED THAT THE ARPT WAS OFFICIALLY CLOSED EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO MARKINGS OR LISTINGS IN PUBLICATIONS TO THIS AFFECT AND THAT THEY WOULD BE IN VIOLATION OF THE FARS. THERE HAS BEEN NO CONTACT FROM THE FAA.
