Synopsis

Air carrier Flight Attendant reported the lack of an inter phone at door 1R is a serious safety hazard.

Narrative

As a safety reporter I just reported the safety risk of no interphone/pa system at 1R 321 neo. Within a couple hours of filing my report I actually had a situation where I needed to have an interphone/pa @ my jumpseat at 1R 321 Neo aircraft. After takeoff a medical issue occurred in the aft galley ....the purser 1L inboard went to aft galley to assist. (There was a jumpseater sitting @ 1L outboard ). Within moments it became very turbulent. The pilots were calling the 1L interphone and I was not able to answer. Why??? Because it was very turbulent and I was strapped into my jumpseat at 1R And I have no interphone/pa at my jumpseat 1R. The plane was not safe because of the turbulence. For just a moment the jumpseater was able to throw over the interphone from 1L to me at 1R. The pilots needed to communicate very important information about the turbulence. And I also had to tell the pilots about the medical issue in the aft galley. The aft galley also called to let me know updates about the medical issue taking place. Again very turbulent and not safe enough for me to get up and answer an interphone across the aisle. So if the jumpseater had not been sitting at 1L outboard ; and passed me the interphone from 1L I would not have been able to communicate with the pilots about the turbulence and the 3 flight attendants in the aft galley about the medical event. I also had to make PA to the pax to fasten seatbelts and remain seated as people always get up to use lavs when seatbelt sign is on. This is a very serious safety hazard. There is no communication system at 1R 321 Neo. The flight attendants who sit at 1R on this aircraft are being put into a jeopardizing and unsafe situation and are cut off from being able to communicate with the pilots; the other flight attendants and PA announcements to passengers and crew. This matter needs to be addressed immediately before someone is severely injured.
