Air carrier technician reported installing an unserviceable brake on a A330.
Synopsis
Air carrier technician reported installing an unserviceable brake on a A330.
Narrative
On Day 0 I; alongside 3 other mechanics; installed an unserviceable brake on Aircraft X thinking it was an acceptable part. Earlier; we were issued a generator; upon returning it we saw a brake directly beside it. We took and installed that brake thinking we had simply taken the wrong part. Our supervisor had to leave early; so we installed the part not knowing it wasn't the issued part and that it was unserviceable. On Day 3 I was notified that the installed brake was unserviceable. I believe this could have been avoided if we had more mechanics and time to properly check if the part was issued and effective.
Second reporter narrative
On Day 0 XA:00L; Aircraft X needed the #6 brake changed; it was already on Deferral now that the brake was in stock and showed in the system; so we went ahead and install the part without XXXX and serviceable tag provided. The temp supervisor left around XB:00L; then information was entered in the system by line mx. I was notified on Day 4 the part was Unservicable. I believe that I need additional training in pulling stocks so that a situation like this to ever happen again.
