Synopsis

Part 107 UAS pilot reported flying a UAS in controlled airspace without obtaining LAANC authorization.

Narrative

Day 0 I flew [near] a stadium. By mistake I did NOT request LAANC. I miss read the Sectional Chart. I also use 'ALOFT: APP to double check Sectional Chart and Metar (Meteorological Aerodorome Report) Chart. I miss read the sectional Chart and there was an error with the ALOFT app. The APP didn't show that I needed to request a LAANC. After having a conversation with Security at the stadium I doubled checked the App; I was requested to RE-log into ALOFT app; Showing I needed to request a LANNC for 50 Meters - 100 Meters. I did not request a LAANC to fly. And I already had been in the air. This location is in Class B Airspace. I needed to request a LAANC Class B airspace. Half of the stadium is in 50 Meter and the other half is in 100 meter. To prevent this situation in the future I need to be better with my Sectional chart Make sure to look at the area around where I'm flying on SkyVector.com and make sure to log out and close the ALOFT App when I'm finish. But most importantly Make sure to be thorough with viewing my sectional Chart and Metar Charts.

NASA callback

Reporter stated the Aloft app had not updated the location during the pre-flight check. The app updated when the reporter checked again after being approached by stadium personnel post-flight.
