Synopsis

B767 flight crew reported exceeding 250 kts below 10;000 feet departing MIA; citing a wake turbulence encounter and an updraft as contributing factors.

Narrative

As we were departing MIA off of runway 27; we encountered some wake turbulence from a preceding aircraft 767 which departed before us on the same runway. At the same time; we also hit an updraft and the speed increased to 270 knots at 4500 feet for about 2 seconds.The FO (pilot flying) was hand flying and then pitched the nose up to bring the speed back to 250 resulting in a rate of climb of up to 6000 fpm during the climb out. We continued the flight to ZZZZ with no further issues.There was also some low level moderate turbulence that was not forecasted.Suggestions: Continue to watch what the airplane is doing and keep the speed below 250 until we get about 10000 feet. Be proactive about keeping the speed below 250 below 10K rather than be reactive. This is a situation that we had to be reactive because it was unexpected.

Second reporter narrative

The incident occurred on Day 0 after takeoff from runway 27 at MIA airport. There were strong gusts of wind during and after takeoff. At the same time; a B767 aircraft took off on the same route ahead of us. As the aircraft passed 4500 ft; due to the effect of the extremely gusty and turbulent air and the wake turbulence of the heavy aircraft ahead of us; and because our aircraft was empty and light; its speed suddenly began to increase. Despite my immediate reaction to increase the aircraft's pitch angle to 25 degrees; the aircraft's speed briefly reached 270 kt indicated airspeed below 10;000 ft for a few seconds. During this time; the flight director was not providing the correct guidance. It was very turbulent and gusty weather and we felt the turbulence of the B767 flying ahead of us quite strongly.Insufficient Guidance| WeatherSuggestion: Using automation earlier in turbulent conditions might be a solution; but since the automation in our aircraft struggles to maintain 250 kt speed below 10;000 ft; we try to fly manually up to 10;000 ft as much as possible. To avoid being affected by the wake vortex of the aircraft taking off ahead of us; perhaps extra separation could be requested from ATC.Occurred after departing rwy 27; while executing gwawa2 departure and passing 4500ft and following B767.
