RWY EXCURSION ON LNDG PROC ROLLOUT.
OBTAINED 2 WX BRIEFINGS PRIOR TO DEP FROM INDEPENDENT SOURCES WHICH INCLUDED NOTAMS CALLING FOR ICE ON RWY; BRAKING ACTION POOR AT DEST. LAST WX BRIEF OBTAINED 45 MINS PRIOR TO DEP INDICATED SAME BRAKING ACTION AS ABOVE AND SURFACE WIND APPROX 050 DEGS AT 10 KTS AT RPTING POINTS IN THE AREA. AWOS UPON ARR INDICATED SURFACE WIND AS CALM AT DEST. (SUSPECTED TO BE BAD INFO AFTER THE OCCURRENCE.) UNICOM INDICATED A GUY IN A TRANSAM RPTED BRAKING ACTION ON RWY 23 AS POOR TO NIL BUT ANOTHER CREW HAD LEFT THE ARPT ALREADY. NO BRAKING ACTION RPT WAS GIVEN FROM THE OTHER CREW AND WE MADE NO ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN ONE (BIG MISTAKE). I ELECTED TO LAND (2ND BIG MISTAKE). LNDG WAS VERY SMOOTH AND ROLLOUT WAS NORMAL. BRAKING AT MIDFIELD WAS NORMAL. BRAKING AT DEP END (LAST 1000 FT) WAS NIL. ACFT CAME TO REST 100 FT PAST DEP END OF RWY ON EXTENDED RWY CTRLINE. PAX AND FLT ATTENDANT WERE UNAWARE OF OFF RWY EXCURSION UNTIL AFTER THE FACT. DECELERATION AND STOP WAS QUITE SMOOTH (LUCK!). ONLY DAMAGE WAS TO CAPT'S PRIDE. NOTES FOR CAPT'S PERSONAL LOG: SUSPECT AWOS WIND INFO CONFLICTING WITH OTHER AREA RPTING STATIONS COULD HAVE BEEN DUE TO THE FACT THE INSTS MAY HAVE FROZEN DUE TO FREEZING RAIN THE NIGHT BEFORE AND BELOW FREEZING TEMPS AFTER. A GUY IN A TRANSAM JUST MIGHT BE A REAL ARPT MGMNT TYPE PERSON AND INTERP OF POOR TO NIL BRAKING ACTION MEANS 'DON'T COME HERE.' 'ANOTHER CREW LEFT ALREADY THIS MORNING' MEANS THEY DID NOT NECESSARILY TKOF IN AN AIRPLANE. IN FACT; THEY CAME OUT; LOOKED AT THE ARPT AND LEFT FOR THE HOTEL IN A CAR -- VERY CAUTIOUSLY!
