Synopsis

ACR LGT ACFT NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED WHEN ACFT CAME TO STOP AFTER LNDG.

Narrative

DURING FINAL APCH GEAR WAS LOWERED WITH NO DOWN/LOCKED INDICATION FOR NOSE GEAR. GAR WAS INITIATED; PROCEEDED TO AN AREA TO TROUBLESHOOT GEAR PROB. AS PER CHKLIST GEAR WAS RECYCLED; STILL NO DOWN/LOCKED INDICATION. LIGHT BULB WAS TESTED. CIRCUIT BREAKERS WERE CHKED. PROCEEDED WITH CHKLIST. ALTERNATE LNDG GEAR EXTENSION WAS NEXT ON CHKLIST; STILL NO DOWN/LOCKED INDICATION. PERFORMED LOW FLY-BY FOR VISUAL INSPECTION OF NOSE GEAR. SAID TO BE STRAIGHT DOWN IN EXTENDED POS. DECLARED AN EMER AND STARTED PREPARATIONS FOR LNDG WITH UNSAFE GEAR. FOLLOWED CHKLIST. BURNING OFF FUEL. PREPARING PAX/CABIN FOR LNDG. REQUESTED EMER EQUIP. LANDED ON RWY 4R WITH NORMAL TOUCHDOWN; SLOWLY LOWERING NOSE GEAR TO RWY. SLOWED TO A STOP; AT THAT TIME NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED. ALL ITEMS ON EMER EVAC CHKLIST WERE COMPLETED EXCEPT PAX WERE ASKED TO EXIT OUT FRONT PAX DOOR (L1 EXIT) WITH THE AID OF FIRE FIGHTERS. NO INJURIES. CAUSE OF PROB: ICE IMPACTED IN NOSEWHEEL WELL; BLOCKING ABILITY OF LOCKING PIN TO SECURE GEAR. TKOF WAS IN CLT DURING MODERATE SNOW WITH APPROX 1/4 - 1/2 INCH SLUSH ON RWY. ALSO #4 TIRE BLEW OUT DUE TO BRAKE BEING FROZEN UP.
