AN ACR LTT CAPT COMPLAINS ABOUT HIS COMPANY BASING POLICY.
OUR COMPANY HAS UNDERGONE SOME MAJOR CHANGES. ONE OF THE CHANGES OUR COMPANY HAS MADE WAS TO MOVE ALL CREWS TO OUR OUTSTATIONS. AT MY NEW BASE IN GULFPORT; MS; THERE ARE 7 CAPTS AND 6 FO'S. THIS PRESENTS A REAL PROB AND IS OF GREAT CONCERN TO MYSELF AND FLCS THROUGHOUT THE SYS INCLUDING OUTSTATIONS CONNECTING TO THE NORTHERN HUB IN MSP. IN MY OPINION; THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SIT. I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF STRESS AND TENSION AMONG CREWS ABOVE AND BEYOND THE NORMAL. CREWS HAVE BECOME COMPLACENT FROM FLYING WITH EACH OTHER FOR 3 AND 4 MONTHS TOGETHER. IN SOME SITS; CREWS WHO HAVE A PERSONALITY CONFLICT ARE FORCED TO FLY TOGETHER FOR MONTHS ON END. THE CHIEF PLT'S OFFICE HAS SHOWN NO CONCERN. WE ARE TOLD TO FLY OR GO HOME. I HAVE A LARGE FAMILY AND CANNOT AFFORD NOT TO FLY. THE NUMBER OF INCIDENTS WHERE CREWS ARE GETTING PHYSICAL IN THE COCKPIT ARE ON THE RISE. THIS IS NOT A SIT WHERE THE FAA; THE PUBLIC OR AVIATION CAN AFFORD AN ACCIDENT. THE OWNER DOESN'T CARE BECAUSE HE CAN REOPEN ANOTHER AIRLINE IN SOME OTHER PART OF THE COUNTRY. THERE IS OUTRIGHT NEGLECT FOR SAFETY BY ACR OWNER AND HIS DEMOLITION DERBY MGRS. IF THE FAA EVER CRACKS DOWN ON OUR MAINT DEPT AND AUDITS RECORDS; IT WOULD MAKE NATIONAL NEWS AND TURN A LOT OF HEADS IN WASHINGTON TOWARDS AVIATION SAFETY. THE GROWING NUMBER OF VIOLATIONS BY ACR CREWS SHOULD BE RINGING A BELL IN SOMEONE'S EAR. I SAY AGAIN; THIS IS NOT BECAUSE OF CREW IGNORANCE. COMPLACENCY; PERSONALITY CONFLICTS AND HIGH LEVELS OF STRESS ARE BEGINNING TO TAKE THEIR TOLL AMONG ACR CREWS. I KNOW THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE BY NASA AVIATION SAFETY BUT I JUST WANTED TO MAKE MY OPINION KNOWN TO SOMEONE OR AN AGENCY. WE ARE HEADED FOR A DISASTER AND WE (ACR CREWS) KNOW IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME. ALL OF THE MGRS; CREWS AND ACR OWNERS KNOW HE MADE A MISTAKE IN MOVING CREWS TO THE OUTSTATION DOMICILE. PRIDE IS STOPPING OWNER FROM DOING THE RIGHT THING; THE SAFE THING. HE WOULD RATHER SEE A FATIGUED AND STRESSED OUT CREW AND 30 PAX INJURED; POSSIBLY FATALLY.
