PVT PLT OF AN SMA SEL ACFT HAD AN NMAC WITH ANOTHER SMA SEL ACFT DURING DEP FROM A LARGE VOLUME OF TFC DUE TO A NATIONAL AIR SHOW SPECIAL ACTIVITY.

Narrative

WHEN MY FRIEND'S ACFT TOOK OFF; I WAS 8TH IN LINE ON THE N SIDE FOR TKOF AND HOPED TO BE ONLY A FEW MINS BEHIND THEM. 52 LONG MINS LATER; I FINALLY TOOK OFF. QUITE FRANKLY; I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO INCENSED AT THE CTLS OF AN AIRPLANE IN MY LIFE (OR EVEN CLOSE). I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE INCOMPETENCE; THE ASININE DELAYS; THE DISORGANIZATION (AND I WAS CLRLY NOT ALONE). I WAS; CLEARLY; IN NO EMOTIONAL STATE TO FLY; BUT I'LL BE DAMNED IF I WAS GOING TO SHUT DOWN AFTER RUNNING MY ENG IN LINE FOR OVER 1.2 HRS ON THE GND. I TOOK OFF; FACING A 7 PLUS HR FLT HOME FROM THERE. DEP PROCS (LIKE OTHER THINGS) HAD CHANGED -- NO REQUEST THIS YR FOR DEPARTING ACFT TO STAY VERY LOW. FOLLOWING THE PLANE AHEAD OF ME; I CLBED W. WHEN I SPOTTED AN SMA OFF MY R WING; AT MY ALT; I WENT L; OBSERVING HIM PARALLEL MY COURSE. DISTRACTED BY HIM; STILL FRUSTRATED; I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE ANOTHER SMA AT MY 11 O'CLOCK POS; CLOSING; BUT TAKING EVASIVE ACTION NEAR MY ALT. I THEN REALIZED WE WERE ALL NEARLY OVER FISK; ON THE INBOUND ARR. WHAT A MESS! IN A BETTER; LESS ANGRY STATE; I WOULD HAVE BEEN LESS DISTRACTED.
