Synopsis

ACR MLG MISSED THE TURN TO A 355 DEG HDG AT OLIVV INTXN.

Narrative

WHILE FLYING THE HOLLY 7 ARR INTO MEMPHIS; I FAILED TO TURN ACFT TO 355 DEG HDG AT OLIVV INTXN. MEM APCH CTLR ADVISED OF MISSED TURN IMMEDIATELY AND TURN WAS INITIATED. NO CONFLICT WAS OBSERVED ON TCASII AND CTLR DIDN'T MENTION ONE EITHER. I KNOW THAT I'M NOT THE FIRST PLT TO MISS THE TURN AS IT'S SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED ON EACH RELEASE INTO MEM TO BE DILIGENT ABOUT MAKING THE TURN. I BELIEVE THAT THE WORD IDENTIFIER (OLIVV) FOR THE INTXN COMBINED WITH THE LATITUDE/LONGITUDE COORDINATES TEND TO OBSCURE THE 355 DEG HDG NOTE ON THE ARR. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT IF THE INTXN INFO FOR OLIVV ON THE PLATE WAS RELOCATED TO THE SW SIDE OF THE INTXN MARKER (AS DEPICTED ON THE ATTACHED HOLLY 7 ARR PAGE) IT WOULD BE FAR EASIER TO SEE THE 355 DEG HDG AND THAT FAR FEWER ERRORS WOULD OCCUR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH MEM APCH CTL REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: CALLED MEM APCH CTL. THEY SAID THAT THIS TURN IS MISSED OFTEN. THEY SAID THAT ACR A USED TO HAVE A PROB UNTIL THEIR 'COMPUTERS' WERE REVISED. ACR B IS STILL HAVING A PROB.
