GEAR UP LNDG AT NON TWR ARPT AFTER PRIMARY ELECTRICAL SUPPLY PROB.
THIS IS IN REGARDS TO A GEAR UP LNDG THAT OCCURRED ON 04/SAT/94 IN SEWARD; ALASKA. IN A PA-24 WHILE ENRTE TO SWD THERE MUST HAVE BEEN AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. ONCE I HAD ARRIVED IN SEWARD I FLEW OVER THE FIELD; CHKED THE WIND DIRECTION AND CHOSE THE RWY IT FAVORED. THERE WAS TFC IN THE AREA DEPARTING THE ARPT. MY RADIO HAD BEEN WEAK WHILE I HAD BEEN MAKING MY TFC CALLS. I MADE MY TURN TO SET MYSELF UP ON DOWN WIND TO BASE. IT WAS TURBULENT SO; WHEN I SELECTED THE GEAR DOWN WITH THE GEAR SWITCH; I DIDN'T THINK OF FEELING IT EXTEND. AT THAT POINT I LOST TOTAL COMS. I FOOLED AROUND WITH THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS STILL LOOKING FOR MY TFC. I PERFORMED THE PRELNDG CHKLIST STILL DISTRACTED BY NO RADIO OR NAV LIGHTS ON SO FAILED TO NOTE THE GREEN LIGHT FOR THE GEAR WAS NOT LIT. THE SWITCH WAS OBSERVED AND IN THE DOWN POS. I REALIZED THEN THAT THE GEAR WAS NOT DOWN. I NEVER GOT THE WARNING HORN ON PWR REDUCTION. ONCE THE ACFT TOUCHED DOWN IT SKIDDED TO A STOP. I GOT OUT OF THE ACFT LOOKED FOR ANY SIGN OF FIRE. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANY. I THEN PROCEEDED TO GET HELP TO RAISE THE ACFT. ONCE WE GOT THE ACFT UP; I WENT INTO THE COCKPIT TO LOWER THE GEAR. THERE WASN'T ANY ELECTRICAL PWR AT ALL. I LOWERED THE GEAR BY MEANS OF THE EMER EXTENSION. AT THIS TIME I THEN REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I LOST ELECTRICAL PWR. THE GEAR IS ELECTRIC DRIVEN. THE WARNING HORN NEEDS ELECTRIC PWR TO WORK. I HAD OVERLOOKED THE AMP GAUGE TO SEE IF IT WAS CHARGING. IT IS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE PLT AND HAS NO WARNING LIGHT.
