Synopsis

ACR MLG HAS A CASE OF THE SHUDDERS ON LNDG PROC ROLLOUT. TWR RPTS SMOKE AND BLOWN TIRES.

Narrative

APCH: NORMAL--I FELT THERE WAS A SLIGHT TAILWIND. REQUESTED WINDS FROM TWR. THEY RPTED THAT SURFACE WINDS WERE CALM; HOWEVER; EARLIER RPTS WERE 060 AT 14-15 KTS. VREF 124; BUG SPD SET TO ABOUT 129-132. CROSSED FENCE AT ABOUT 135-140 KTS. LNDG: NORMAL--TOUCHDOWN WITH MAIN MOUNTS IN FIRST 1500 FT OF RWY 26R. LOWERED NOSE; APPLIED BRAKES AND REVERSE THRUST. ACFT STARTED TO SHUDDER ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN THE RWY. AS THE SHUDDER STARTED; I RELEASED SOME PRESSURE THEN REAPPLIED THE BRAKES. AT THAT TIME I FELT THE CAPT COME ON THE BRAKES AND FELT HIS HAND ON THE THRUST REVERSES. I THEN SAID; 'YOU HAVE THE THROTTLES.' THE ACFT STARTED TO DRIFT L; THEN BACK TOWARD THE CTR. AS THE ACFT STOPPED THE TWR RPTED SMOKE FROM THE R MAIN MOUNT AND BLOWN TIRES. A COMMUTER ACFT IN THE COMMUTER STAGING AREA SAID THE TIRES AND MAIN MOUNT LOOKED NORMAL. WE TAXIED CLR AND WERE MET BY THE EMER TRUCKS. THEY RPTED THE TIRES AND MAIN MOUNT WERE OK WITH SOME SKYDROL LEAKING. HYD PRESS AND QUANTITY WERE NORMAL. A MAINT PERSON WITH BINOCULARS GAVE US A THUMBS UP. MAINT OKAYED US TO TAXI IN AND THE FIRE TRUCKS FOLLOWED US TO THE GATE.
