Synopsis

PLTDEV -- CPR A DID NOT COMPLY WITH TWR INSTRUCTION TO CANCEL TKOF CLRNC.

Narrative

MY AIRPLANE WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 27 AT TPA INTL. DURING TKOF ROLL I NOTICED A B727 TAXI ACROSS RWY. AS THINGS CONTINUED I THOUGHT IT UNUSUAL; BUT NO IMMEDIATE SEPARATION PROB SEEMED IMMINENT. I COULD DETERMINE THAT THE B727 WOULD SAFELY CLR THE RWY PRIOR TO MY REACHING HIS POINT SO I ELECTED TO CONTINUE. I DID HEAR GARBLED AND UNCLR COMS AT THIS TIME AS TO A TAXIING ACFT. THE TKOF WAS UNEVENTFUL BUT DUE TO THE HIGH DECIBEL LEVELS AT MAX PWR OUTPUT (NO HEADSET WORN) THE COMS WERE NOT CLR. AFTER DEP THE TWR CTLR ASKED ME IF I HEARD TO 'CANCEL TKOF CLRNC' WHICH I DID NOT AND CONFESSED SO TO CTLR; 'THAT I DID NOT HEAR HIM CANCEL MY TKOF.' I FEEL THE PROB WAS LACK OF GND CTLR AND LCL CTLR COORD AND THE FACT HIS INSTRUCTION APPARENTLY CAME JUST AS I HAD APPLIED MAX PWR FOR TKOF WITH THE SHARP DECIBEL LEVEL RISE IN THE COCKPIT AT THAT MOMENT. I DON'T LIKE HEADSETS BUT A HEADSET MIGHT HAVE HELPED HERE BUT ANYWAY IN THIS INSTANCE THERE WAS NOT A SERIOUS AIRPLANE TO AIRPLANE SEPARATION CONFLICT.
