Synopsis

ACR FLC LEAVES #1 ENG RUNNING AT RAMP AFTER ACFT ARR AND CHKLIST COMPLETED.

Narrative

ON ARR FROM ABQ TO DFW FLT ON SEP/XX/94 NORMAL SINGLE ENG TAXI AT DFW. AT GATE RAN NORMAL ENG SHUTDOWN CHKLIST. WHEN EXTERNAL PWR CAME ON LINE APU WAS SHUT DOWN AND NORMAL TRANSFER OF PWR WAS OBSERVED ON PANEL INDICATING EXTERNAL PWR WAS PROVIDING PWR TO BOTH L/R BUSSES. COCKPIT CLEANUP WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND WE DEPARTED TO THE NEXT GATE FOR FLT TO MCI. TIME BTWN FLTS WAS 1 HR. THE FO AND I DID NOT LEAVE IN ANY RUSH DUE TO JUST GOING TO THE NEXT GATE. WE DID NOT NOTICE ANY L ENG NOISE ON THE JET BRIDGE RAMP WAS BASICALLY EMPTY AT THIS TIME. FO THEN WENT TO NEXT GATE FOR PREFLT OF OUTBOUND FLT. APPROX 10- 15 MINS LATER WE WERE NOTIFIED OF L ENG RUNNING ON AUX CURRENT AND MAINT HAD SHUT DOWN THE ENG. I WAS DEBRIEFED BY MAINT THAT THE ENG WAS RUNNING AND HAD BEEN SHUT DOWN; BUT HE FOUND THE STATUS OF THE COCKPIT HAD BEEN THROUGH A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN CHKLIST WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE L ENG RUNNING. AS AN ADDED NOTE; DEBRIEFS HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY THE FLT ATTENDANTS THAT THEY WERE IN THE BACK OF THE ACFT CLEANING AND STATED IT WAS REAL QUIET AND THEY WOULD HAVE HEARD THE L ENG RUNNING.
