Synopsis

SUPER 80 DISPATCHED WITH 1 THRUST REVERSER PLACARDED INOP AS WELL AS THE AUTO SPOILER SYS.

Narrative

REPEAT OF SORTS OF EARLIER OF-25. ACFT HAD INOP THRUST REVERSER ON R SIDE. RAN INTO THE SAME PROB ON THE XXXX AND MR X SAID THEN THAT MAINT WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE USING THE MPM-78 LIKE THEY WERE. TODAY I KNEW THAT MAINT WOULD SAY THE PLACARD WAS LEGAL BUT MY CONCERN WAS NOT IF PLACARDS WERE LEGAL BUT THAT WITH THE AUTOSPOILER INOP FOR TKOF THERE IS A TKOF PENALTY THAT WAS NOT REFERENCED ON THE FLT PLAN NOR ON THE PLACARD. I WAS NEAR MAX TAKE OFF WT SO I CONTACTED DISPATCH TO MAKE SURE HE AGREED THAT I WAS LEGAL TO TKOF WITH THE CORRECTIONS APPLIED. HE DID NOT KNOW OF THE PLACARDS AND BEFORE I COULD EXPLAIN HAD A CONFERENCE CALL TO TECHNICIAN. MR X SAID THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE THE PLACARDS CONTACTED FLT OPS TECHNICAL. AGAIN I WAS JUST TRYING TO ENSURE DISPATCH KNEW OF MY SIT. I HAD ASKED TECHNICIAN; THE MAINT CREW; AND DISPATCH DESK TO ENSURE THAT THERE WAS SOME NOTATION MADE THAT THE ADDITIONAL 2 SYS WERE PLACARDED -- WAS NOT DONE OBVIOUSLY. IN VEGAS I FOLLOWED UP TO BE TOLD THAT CAPT SUPVR WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROB MONDAY. WELL WHAT ABOUT AN AIRPLANE FLYING AROUND ON SUNDAY WITH SYS PLACARDED AND NO REF TO THE APPLICABLE TKOF PENALTY? I'M REQUESTING REVIEW AS AN ASAP IN THAT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT FLYING AROUND WITH A SYS THAT IS PLACARDED INOP THAT SHOULD NOT BE. MY FEELING IS THAT IF I APPLIED THE CORRECT PENALTIES; NO PROB -- AT LEAST I ERRED ON THE SAFE SIDE. AND SOMEONE -- SOMEPLACE NEEDS TO GET IT TOGETHER. TECHNICIAN SAYS NO PLACARD AND DFW MAINT SAYS YEP; IT'S IN THE MANUAL; LEFT OUT.
