FLC MISSED SETTING FLAPS ON 2 CHKLISTS AND ABORTED ON TKOF CONFIGN WARNING.
TAXIED OUT; TKOF DELAYED DUE SEQUENCING DEPARTING AND ARRIVING ACFT. CLRED FOR TKOF; ADVANCED THROTTLES GOT CONFIGN WARNING -- DISCOVERED FLAPS UP. ABORTED TKOF; TAXIED BACK; ADVISED COMPANY AND TOOK OFF. WE HAD NOT DONE THE BEFORE TKOF CHK. ADDITIONALLY; THE FO HAD RESPONDED INCORRECTLY TO AN ITEM ON THE AFTER START CHKLIST THAT DID NOT REQUIRE A CAPT'S RESPONSE ALTHOUGH HE/I SHOULD HAVE BEEN VERIFYING. I FEEL 2 MAN COCKPIT A FACTOR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: ANY COMMENT ON HOW THE FLAPS GOT FORGOTTEN? WE DID NOT FORGET THE FLAPS AS MUCH AS WE FORGOT THE CHKLIST! THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST IS 4 ITEMS: FLAPS; SQUAWK; LIGHTS AND TCASII. ONLY THE FLAPS PORTION IS CHALLENGE AND RESPONSE AS THE SQUAWK; LIGHT AND TCASII ARE DONE BY THE FO WITHOUT A RESPONSE REQUIRED FROM THE CAPT. THE AFTER START CHKLIST ALSO HAS FLAPS ON IT; BUT THAT CHKLIST IS RUN UNILATERALLY BY THE READER WHICH IS THE FO AND THE CAPT HAS NO RESPONSES FOR THAT CHKLIST. WERE THERE ANY DISTRS? ONLY THAT THE TAXI OUT FROM THE GATE WAS VERY SHORT AND THE WAIT FOR TKOF WAS VERY LONG AND WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SCHEDULE AND THE DELAY ON THIS VFR DAY. WHAT KIND OF CHKLIST DO YOU USE AND DO YOU THINK THERE IS A BETTER WAY. WE USE A CARD WHICH THE FO READS FROM AND I BELIEVE THAT A MECHANICAL CHKLIST WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE IN AVOIDING MISSING ITEMS. DO YOU TRADE LEGS? YES; BUT WE DO NOT TRADE SEATS AND MOST OF THE CAPTS LEAVE THE READING OF THE CHKLIST TO THE FO ON DEP AND ARR TAXI PHASES. ARE YOU NEW TO THE AIRPLANE OR SEAT? I HAVE BEEN IN THIS ACFT FOR LESS THAN A YR AND; THOUGH THE FO HAS YRS OF EXPERIENCE; I BELIEVE HE ALSO IS LESS THAN A YR IN THIS ACFT. WERE YOU TIRED? NO. NOT THAT I NOTICED.
