RPTR ALLEGEDLY TOOK OFF FROM THE WRONG RWY AT ROC.
WE HAD LANDED ON RWY 04 AT ROC ON A SCHEDULED INTERMEDIATE STOP BEFORE CONTINUING TO SYR. IN PREPARATION FOR OUR DEP I HAD LISTENED TO THE CURRENT ATIS AND AFTER RECEIVING THE PAPER WORK FROM THE GATE AGENT HAD PREPARED THE TKOF DATA FOR RWY 04. AS WE WERE PUSHING BACK FROM THE GATE I HEARD THE CAPT TELL THE FO TO ASK FOR THE S RWY (OPPOSITE DIRECTION) AND KNOWING THAT IT WOULD BE A SHORT TAXI I TURNED AND TOLD THE FLT ATTENDANTS TO PLAN FOR A SHORT TAXI. I THEN VERIFIED THAT WE WERE OK FOR AN OPPOSITE (RWY 22) TKOF WHICH WE WERE. AT THIS POINT WE WERE STARTING ALL 3 ENGS IN PREPARATION FOR THE SHORT TAXI AND TKOF. IN THE TIME THAT WE WERE DISCONNECTING FROM THE TUG; THE CAPT WAS TALKING TO THE TUG DRIVER AND THE COPLT WAS CONFIRMING OUR TAXI CLRNC. I (SO) WAS MAKING THE PA TO THE FLT ATTENDANTS TO PREPARE THE CABIN FOR TKOF. THE CAPT THEN CALLED FOR THE TAXI CHK AND CONFIRMED WITH THE FO THAT WE WERE CLRED AS REQUESTED. I DO NOT RECALL SPECIFICALLY WHAT THE FO HAD REQUESTED SINCE DURING OUTGOING XMISSIONS INCOMING HEADSET RECEPTION IS DECREASED IN THIS PARTICULAR 727. THE SO MANUAL HAS NO FIELD DIAGRAM CHARTS FOR ROC BUT AT THIS POINT IT DID NOT SEEM TO BE A COMPLEX TAXI SINCE WE HAD JUST LANDED ON RWY 04/22 AND VIRTUALLY ENTERED THE RAMP FROM THERE. WE WERE THEN CLRED FOR TKOF AND AS WE WERE COMPLETING THE BEFORE TKOF CHK THE FO VERIFIED OUR INSTRUCTIONS WERE RWY HDG RATHER THAN THE ORIGINAL CLRNC FOR RWY 04. AT THE SAME TIME TWR ADVISED US THAT THERE WAS TFC ON R BASE FOR RWY 04. WE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT WE HAD THE TFC IN SIGHT AS WE BEGAN THE TKOF ROLL. I HEARD THE TWR DIRECTING AN ACFT TO TURN IMMEDIATELY TO A 270 DEGS HDG AND THEN NOTIFYING US TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WHICH WE DID WITH A SLIGHT L TURN AFTER TKOF. NOW THE TWR ADVISED US THAT WE WERE TAKING OFF RWY 22 AND HAD BEEN CLRED FOR RWY 10.
