A PAX'S MEDICAL CONDITION WORSENED WHILE ENRTE; AND AFTER COORDINATING WITH DISPATCH; A FLC DIVERTED ACFT TO MEET THE MEDICAL EMER.

Narrative

THIS EVENT WAS SUBMITTED TO COMPANY. I WANTED TO SUBMIT AN ASRS RPT AS WELL; ON THE CHANCE THERE MAY BE SOME CONFUSION OVER THE EVENTS OF OUR DIVERSION. A SICK PAX WAS BOARDED IN LGA FOR OUR FLT TO ORD. APPROX 1 HR INTO THE FLT THE FLT ATTENDANTS INFORMED ME THAT OUR SICK PAX WAS ON 02 -- EXPERIENCING SHAKES WITH COLD AND CLAMMY SKIN. WE HAD 2 DOCTORS ON BOARD; WHO WERE MONITORING HER CONDITION; AND I MADE THE DECISION TO CONTINUE TO ORD. ABOUT 10 MIN AFTER THIS (AND A SUBSEQUENT CHK BY THE FO); SHE WENT BACK ON 02; AND HER CONDITIONS SEEMED TO BE WORSENING. WHILE I WAS ON THE RADIO WITH DISPATCH I DECIDED TO DIVERT TO CLE. I TOLD THE FO TO OBTAIN THAT CLRNC WHILE I WAS GETTING WX FROM DISPATCH AND THEIR CONCURRENCE. I AM NOT SURE IF HE OBTAINED CLRNC FIRST; OR JUST TURNED THE AIRPLANE; AND TOLD CTR OUR PLANS TO LAND IN CLE. OUR DIVERSION OCCURRED 81 MI N OF CLE. WE WERE GIVEN CLRNC FROM FL310 TO FL240; AND INFORMED THEM OF A MEDICAL PROB ON BOARD. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLR TO THE FO; ON THE REQUEST FOR CLRNC; AND CTR; THAT WE HAD A MEDICAL EMER. THE DIVERSION WAS WITHOUT DIFFICULTY AND THROUGH DISPATCH THE PARAMEDICS MET US AT THE GATE. WE WERE RE- RELEASED TO ORD WITHOUT FURTHER DIFFICULTY.
