ALTDEV ALT OVERSHOT. THIS ACR CAPT CLBED BEYOND HIS CLRNC LIMIT AND DID NOT HEAR THE CTLR'S CALLS UNTIL THE THIRD ONE. HE THEN APPLIED RATHER; NECESSARILY; ABRUPT CTL INPUTS TO CORRECT.
AFTER TKOF; RWY 03 WITH SAT DEP. CLRED TO TURN R HDG 120 DEGS CLB AND MAINTAIN 5000 FT. NEARBY ANOTHER TFC; A BOEING 737 AIRLINER; THAT WAS CLRED TO MAINTAIN 6000 FT AND MAKING A XING PATH OF ABOUT 90 DEGS; XING FROM L TO R (APPROX) AND GETTING AS CLOSE AS ALMOST 1/2 MI HORIZ. AT THE TIME AFTER I WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE CTLR 3 TIMES (APPROX) TO 'DSND IMMEDIATELY;' I REACTED. THE EVASIVE ACTION WAS TO REDUCE THE PWR LEVERS TO FLT IDLE AT THE TIME APPLYING FULL FORWARD ELEVATOR FORCE TO REACH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE THE ASSIGNED 5000 FT. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS LOW FIELD ELEVATION (I'M MORE USED TO HIGHER FIELDS) INEFFICIENT TRIM ACTION HAD BEEN TAKEN; TO COUNTERACT THE INERTIA OF THE AIRPLANE TO CONTINUE CLBING; ALSO BECAUSE OF THE HIGH PERFORMANCE CLB OF THE METRO III (FAIRCHILD); ALT ALERT WAS OUT OF SVC (RPTED ON THE AIRPLANE LOGBOOK). ALL OF THESE FACTORS IN CONJUNCTION WITH IN THE LAST 1 YEAR PERIOD I HAVE ACCUMULATED 945:00 HRS AND IN THE LAST MONTH 90:00 HRS; ACCUMULATED FATIGUE ALSO BY EXCESSIVE NOISE EXPOSURE DUE TO GARRET TURBOPROP ENGS (EVEN THOUGH WE USE HEADPHONES).
