CAPT OF AN LTT FERRY FLT CHANGED THE DEST ON THE PERMIT AND FLEW TO THE WRONG DEST.
ON APR/XX/95; WHILE WAITING TO FLY A SCHEDULED FLT FROM GRB; WI (ONE OF OUR COMPANY OUTSTATIONS); ANOTHER COMPANY AIRPLANE ARRIVED WITH A HYD LEAK. THE OTHER AIRPLANE'S CREW TOOK OUR AIRPLANE AND THE FO AND I WERE TOLD TO FERRY THE DEFECTIVE AIRPLANE TO GRR; MI (OUR COMPANY'S MAINT BASE). WE WERE TOLD THIS IN VERY CLR TERMS BY THE COMPANY'S SYS OP CTL AT MDW. WE WERE ALSO ADVISED THAT A FLT PLAN WOULD BE ON FILE FROM GRB TO GRR. WHILE I WAS CONFIRMING THIS OVER THE PHONE WITH SYS CTL IN CHICAGO; THE LCL FBO MECH WAS ON THE PHONE WITH OUR COMPANY MAINT CTL IN MEMPHIS FILLING OUT THE FERRY PERMIT. WHEN WE BOTH GOT OFF THE PHONE; THE MECHS GAVE ME THE PAPER WORK AND LEFT. I WENT DOWN TO THE AIRPLANE TO DO A PREFLT AND GET THE CLRNC. WHEN EXAMINING THE PAPER WORK AS I WAS PREPARING TO DO THE BEFORE START CHKLIST; I NOTICED THAT THE PERMIT SAID MDW INSTEAD OF GRR AS THE DEST ARPT. BELIEVING THIS TO BE AN ERROR; I CHANGED THE MDW TO GRR AND PROCEEDED WITH THE FLT. UPON ARR TO GRR I WAS TOLD THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE FERRIED THE AIRPLANE TO MDW EVEN THOUGH SYS CTL AT MDW HAD JUST TOLD ME DIFFERENTLY AND HAD FILED A FLT PLAN FOR ME FROM GRB TO GRR. ALTHOUGH WE HAD BEEN MONITORING THE OPS FREQ THE ENTIRE FLT; IT WASN'T UNTIL AFTER WE TOUCHED DOWN THAT WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO FLY TO MDW. THIS INCIDENT IMPRESSED UPON ME THE SACREDNESS OF THE PAPER WORK AND NEVER TO CHANGE IT EVEN IF IT SEEMS TO BE IN OBVIOUS ERROR.
