UNAUTH UNCOORD RWY ENTRY OP.
ON TAXI OUT TO RWY 22R AND 22L (NEEDED RWY 22L FOR WT); ORIGINAL SPOT APPROX #8 FOR TKOF. WHEN ACFT IN FRONT WAS CLRED TO POS ON RWY 22R; INSTRUCTIONS FOR 3 WERE GIVEN IN ONE FAST CONTINUOUS STATEMENT INCLUDING - CLRNC FOR 'ACFT ON RWY 22R TO TKOF; NEXT ACFT POS AND HOLD BUT PULL UP TO 1ST INTXN FOR HOLD' AND LET US TAXI BEHIND; FOR US TO 'TAXI TO RWY 22L AND CALL WHEN READY.' DURING SOME PORTION OF THIS TAXI TO RWY 22L; I QUERIED MY COPLT AS TO OUR INSTRUCTIONS THINKING I MAY HAVE MISSED SOMETHING BECAUSE I DID NOT HEAR TWR SAY 'HOLD SHORT;' NOR MY COPLT RESPOND 'HOLD SHORT' BUT I HAD NOT TURNED ON OUR ANTI- COLLISION LIGHTS OR AUTOTHROTTLE YET - MY AUTO RESPONSE TO 'POS AND HOLD.' MY COPLT ASSURED ME 'POS AND HOLD.' LATER CONVERSATION INDICATED HE THOUGHT TWR MEANT POS WHEN THEY DID NOT SAY 'HOLD SHORT;' AND PART OF THE TWR XMISSION WAS MISSED BY ME AS I TOLD FLT ATTENDANT 'PREPARE FOR TKOF' AS THE TWR STARTED IT'S XMISSION CLRING ACFT ON RWY 22R. I SHOULD HAVE DOUBLE CHKED. TWR RESPONDED WE WERE NOT CLRED ON THE RWY; BUT TFC 3 OUT AND SWITCHED TO RWY 22 FOR LNDG. A LATER CALL TO BOSTON TWR (VIA TELEPHONE); SAID 'NO PROB; THEY USED BAD VERBIAGE AND THERE WAS NO CONFLICT.' ADDED COMMENT NOT BE CONNECTED TO THE ABOVE. ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHANGES IN AVIATION IN PAST 5 YRS IS THE INCREASE IN 'SPD TALK.' A MISSED COM TAKES 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF TIME TO CORRECT AS A SINGLE UNDERSTANDABLE ONE TAKES TO BE UNDERSTOOD AND RESPONDED TO. ALSO ATC XMITTERS ARE REALLY OUTDATED AND SOMETIMES DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND (BACKGND NOISE; ETC) PLT TO PLT IS VERY CLR.
